Fakesgiving! And Thanksgiving

Matt & Lauren came to visit us a couple of weeks ago. We did a Thanksgiving (Fakesgiving) Dinner together and got some pics.

He loved putting the olives on his fingers and then refused to eat them.

We also did Nathan's birthday. My Mom did the cake. I was the moral support and frosting mixer.

On the real Thanksgiving Day, we spent with Christian's family. But before we could settle in for pumpkin pie and some photos, Nathan's new cough suddenly turned into this awful sounding wheeze, mixed with non-stop coughing and clinging to Mommy. We debated about taking him to Primary Children's or just toughing it out. After giving him a blessing, we decided to be safe and trekked up to the hospital. We thought it would be busy, considering hospitals are the only ones open, but when I walked into the waiting room, there was no one in there, but a Security guard and the check-in nurse.

We thought maybe it was croup. It sounded like it, but after being listened to by a couple of doctors, it's just a really bad cough on it's nasty little way. So they did a Albuterol treatment, some steroids and prescription for more. Now, as far as our little patient goes, he was VERY UNCOOPERATIVE:
He wouldn't stand on the scale, he wouldn't sit on the infant scale. He wouldn't let Christian hold him while Christian stood on the scale.
He ripped off the pulse ox monitor.
He wouldn't let the nurses or doctors listen to his lungs.
He didn't want to do the oxygen treatment.
He DID NOT want to do the Albuterol treatment. They have to have the oxygen mask on their face. We finally had to burrito wrap his arms in a sheet and hold his legs so the mask would stay on. I have never seen someone literally gnash their teeth until now. I have never seen Nathan so angry that I thought he would Hulk out on us. He did not let up during the whole treatment which lasted almost 10 minutes.
The nurse said Nathan was in his top ten for fits during Albuterol treatments.
After the treatment, he practically passed out from physical exertion.
He slept for about 30 minutes while the nurse quickly listened to his lungs again and did a pulse ox.
He did however really like his steroids crushed and mixed with raspberry flavoring.

He totally perked up after the whole ordeal, and was thrilled to push elevator buttons and pick up "Caution Wet Floor" signs on our way out.

We do have many things to be thankful for and one of them is that although the hospital was not exactly where we wanted to spend a few hours, our little boy is feeling much better and we really appreciate the hospital workers who sacrifice their holiday.

And thanks to our little boy, we're 2 out of 3 for Thanksgivings spent in the hospital.

His only comfort was his sipper cup and blankie.

Look Mom! A Sticker!

The remains of the bed after we did the treatment. The sheet was nicely placed before we got there.

I seriously can't believe Nathan is already 2! And another one on the way....you go!
Ummm, I totally should have had a Fakesgiving too because although we spent it at the happiest place on earth, I miss the turkey and yams! (I did buy a $7 turkey let at Disneyland).
And I am in complete shock about you guys selling the black tacoma! I pretty much thought it should have stayed with you two until you died! so sad.....
